From BPD News:

At about 7:18 AM on Tuesday, July 27, 2021, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site firearm arrest of Dennis King, 37, of Lowell in the area of Bowdoin Street and Hendry Street in Dorchester.

While on patrol, officers observed a motor vehicle with an expired inspection sticker and activated their emergency lights and sirens to conduct the traffic stop. Officers exited their cruiser and made contact with the driver, later identified as Dennis King.

A CJIS inquiry revealed that King had an active straight warrant issued out of Lawrence District Court for Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. As officers removed King from the motor vehicle, they recovered a firearm from his waistband.

The firearm was determined to be a Taurus 740, .40 caliber loaded with seven rounds of ammunition.

Dennis King was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
