At about 4:00 AM on Sunday April 19, 2020, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a call for shots fired in the area of 23 Cameron Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located a parked and unattended motor vehicle with ballistic damage along with other evidence on scene. District detectives conducted an investigation which led to the identification of Jeffery Mendes, 24, of Dorchester as a suspect wanted in connection to the incident. Investigators then applied for and were granted an arrest warrant sought out of Dorchester District Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling and Attempted Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
At about 2:04 PM on Thursday April 23, 2020, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force located and arrested the suspect without incident in the area of 3 Bird Street in Dorchester. The suspect is expected to be arraigned later today in Dorchester District Court.
