At about 7:41 PM, on Monday, September 12, 2022, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan), made an on-site firearm arrest of Jayden Hernandez, 18, of Dorchester, while in the area of Norfolk Street and Woodrow Avenue.

Officers were on patrol when they observed a male driving a scooter fail to stop for two pedestrians in a cross walk. The scooter then proceeded to travel on the wrong side of the road and onto a sidewalk.

Officers were able to apprehend the suspect, later identified as Hernandez, outside of a local store. After further investigation, officers recovered a loaded firearm from the driver. The firearm was determined to be a loaded Smith & Wesson 9mm with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in the magazine.

Also recovered was a large plastic bag of marijuana, a digital scale, eight loose rounds of ammunition and eight blue bills. As officers attempted to place Hernandez under arrest, he resisted by pulling away and spitting on officers.

Jayden Hernandez was safely placed under arrest and will be charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Assault & Battery on a Police Officer and Possession with Intent to Distribute, Class B, Drugs. Hernandez is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
