One Less Gun: At about 10:24 PM on Monday, October 5, 2020, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force assisted by Massachusetts State Police conducted a traffic stop resulting in one arrest and the recovery of an illegal firearm in the area of 60 Westville Street in Dorchester. While on patrol in the area of Washington Street, officers observed a motor vehicle operating with excessive tints. A query of the vehicle led to the discovery that the registration and insurance were both cancelled along with a failed inspection sticker. Officers activated their lights and sirens, initiating a traffic stop in the area of 60 Westville Street. Officers approached the vehicle and observed the operator breathing heavy and visibly trembling.  Officers smelled the odor of burnt marijuana and removed the operator from the vehicle. As the operator exited the vehicle, officers observed him tighten his legs together in an unusual manner. Officers frisked the male, asking him to widen his abnormal stance multiple times. When the male complied, officers recovered a Beretta 25 cal MOD 950BS loaded with nine rounds of live ammunition, which was inside of the operator’s groin area. The operator was taken into custody.

Officers arrested Khyree Thompson, 30-years-old, of Manchester, NH. Thompson is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Firearm Violation with Two Prior Violent/Drug Crimes, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Subsequent Offense.
