At 10:29 AM, on Monday, November 4th, 2024, Officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested 25-year-old Ezequiel Rodriguez, of Dorchester, for trespassing and drug related offenses following a subject stop during an investigation for a recovered firearm outside of the Joseph Lee School, located at 155 Talbot Ave., Dorchester.
Officers were on a directed patrol near Westview St. and the Joseph Lee school after receiving information that people were outside of the Lee School with firearms.
Officers located three males behind the Lee School, and when they approached the group on-foot, one of the males began walking towards Officers while the other two ran in the opposite direction towards Talbot Ave. Officers gave chase and watched the two males clutching their waistbands, until losing sight of them after they turned onto Bernard St. from Talbot Ave. Officers broadcasted the flight of the males via radio and requested a police K9 to aid in the search.
Multiple Officers responded and started canvassing the area and during their canvas, an Officer and his police K9 counterpart (Buddy) had indicated toward a bush on a path located on the Lee School’s property and a firearm was located inside the bush.
After the firearm was recovered, Other officers observed Rodriguez in the rear of the Lee School while he appeared to be searching the ground intently while talking on a phone. Officers conducted an investigation and released Rodriguez after identifying him and determining that he was not carrying a weapon. These Officers remained in the area of the flight path to continue their canvas and Rodriguez left.
After Rodriguez was released, several other Officers, along with a K9 counterpart (Bunk) were searching Helen St. for suspects, when they encountered Rodriguez leaving a residence located at 9 Helen St., with a backpack he did not have earlier. Rodriguez was stopped for an investigation that determined he was trespassing and he was placed in custody. A search of Rodriguez’s backpack resulted in the recovery of eight (8) Xanax bars inside a sandwich bag.
B-3 Detectives determined the firearm to be a Glock 26 with one (1) 9mm round in the chamber and a forty (40) round magazine, containing thirty-nine (39) 9mm rounds.
Ezequiel Rodriguez was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the charges of Trespassing and Possession of a Class C Drug.
