BPD Arrest 18-year-old Suspect and Recover Loaded Firearm and Stolen Scooter in Dorchester

Keeping Boston Safe: At about 2:00 AM on Sunday, April 26, 2026, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an on-sight arrest of Tyrone Puckett, 18-years-old, of Charlestown and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Harvard Street in Dorchester.
While on patrol in the Blue Hill Avenue area, officers observed two mopeds operating at a high rate of speed towards Harvard Street, while neither of the operators wore a helmet. Officers also observed that the mopeds did not appear to be registered. Officers continued their observation of the moped before they pulled over to a complete stop in front of 879 Blue Hill Avenue. Officers attempted to approach the two individuals when one of them sped off through the red light heading towards Morton Street. The second operator appeared to freeze upon seeing officers. The suspect then accelerated his moped towards the officers before striking the open door of the police cruiser which caused him to lose his balance and fall off of the moped. The suspect climbed to his feet and immediately began sprinting on foot towards Vesta Road.
While pursuing the suspect, officers observed the suspect constantly reaching into his jacket in an apparent effort to remove an object. The suspect fell while his hand was still inside of his jacket and upon returning to his feet, officers observed the suspect remove a firearm from his jacket before throwing it over a fence striking the residence at 849 Blue Hill Avenue and subsequently hit the ground with a metallic thud. The suspect was promptly apprehended and taken into custody. The unknown firearm was loaded with five rounds of live ammunition. The scooter had exposed wires, no key, and no gas cap, leading officers to determine it had been unlawfully obtained.
Puckett is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle, Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Unregistered Motor Vehicle, and Resisting Arrest. Additionally, Puckett was issued a uniform citation for Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Unregistered Motor Vehicle.
