BOSTON, Mass. – October 1, 2024 – Boston Harbor Now, in partnership with the National Park Service, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation, and Boston Harbor City Cruises, has announced that its popular $5 Ferry Weekend will return from Saturday, October 12th, through Monday, October 14th.
Due to the success of last year’s extended $5 Ferry Weekend, the discounted weekend will once again take place over three days to give guests even more opportunities to visit Spectacle Island before the public ferry season ends on Tuesday, October 15th. After the end of the public ferry season, access to the Boston Harbor Islands becomes limited, so $5 Ferry Weekend allows the community to enjoy the islands one last time until the public ferry season reopens in 2025.
In addition to discounted trips to Spectacle Island, $5 Ferry Weekend will feature face painting (Saturday only), hike with a ranger, and Sunday Jazz on the Porch with Berklee College of Music. Tickets are on a first come, first served basis, so it is encouraged to purchase your tickets in advance online at: https://www.

About Boston Harbor Now
In April of 2016, Boston Harbor Now launched as a new nonprofit civic organization with a bold mission: to ensure a vibrant and sustainable future for Boston’s harbor, waterfront, and islands. Boston Harbor Now works with public and private partners to expand access to open space and recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities harbor-wide, plan for and build an integrated and expanded water transportation system, and to foster economic development and growth that is resilient to sea-level rise and the effects of climate change. Boston Harbor Now plays a unique role as the non-profit partner of the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park raising funds to help the National Park Service, Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the City of Boston, and hundreds of youth and community organizations to build visitor amenities and recreational infrastructures like campsites and trail networks, to provide interpretive, educational and cultural programs and volunteer opportunities, and to provide free access for children and families from low-income communities.
