BPD Investigators Arrest Suspect Wanted in Connection to Several Residential Break-ins in Dorchester: Less than two weeks after alerting the public and asking for their help in efforts to identify the individual responsible for several break-ins in Dorchester, the BPD is pleased to announce that an arrest has been made. Earlier this evening, Thursday, June 28, 2018, officers arrested Eric Valazquez, 47, of Boston and charged him with Breaking and Entering (Nighttime).
A warrant was recently issued for Eric Valazquez as a result of his connection to a house break in the area of 11 Leslie Street in Dorchester on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. At that time, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a call for a break-in in progress at the aforementioned location. On arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that she was startled to find an individual (described as a black male in his forties with short, unkempt hair, wearing a black coat, blue jeans and black sneakers) in her home. Although she was able to scare the suspect away before police arrived, the victim stated she was confident she could identify the suspect if she had the opportunity to see him again.
When presented a photo array of potential suspects, the victim was able to positively identify Eric Valazquez as the individual who had broken into her home. Armed with this information, investigators were able to secure an arrest warrant in the name of Eric Valazquez. At about 6:56pm, on Thursday, June 28, 2018, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force were able to locate and apprehend Valazquez in the area of 270 Huntington Avenue.
The investigation remains active as detectives work to further establish and better understand the suspect’s connection to four reported break-ins that occurred in the area of St. Marks Parish and the Shawmut Train Station in District C-11 (Dorchester) this month. As a result, anyone with information regarding the facts and circumstances surrounding these incidents is asked to contact Boston Police District C-11 Detectives at (617) 343-4581.
