According to posts on social media from Donnie Wahlberg and Mark Wahlberg, their mother Alma has passed away.
Wahlberg, 78, is a mother of nine and Dorchester native. Alma lit up the screen on the reality television series “Wahlburgers”. Her son, Chef Paul Wahlberg named his restaurant in Hingham Alma Nove after his mother.
Alma is also the mother of actor Robert Wahlberg, who appeared in films such as “Mystic River” and “The Departed.” She is also the mother of Arthur, Jim, Michelle, Debbie and Tracey Wahlberg. Debbie passed away in 2003.
Donnie Wahlberg announced his mother’s death in a very touching Instagram post:
I’m so blessed to have been brought into this world by, raised by, taught by and set on my life’s path by, such an amazing woman.
My mom Alma’s joy for life, love and people — combined with a pride in her humble beginnings and refusal to forget where she came from — undoubtedly shaped me into the man that I am.
According to WCVB, back in July 2020, Donnie Wahlberg shared that his mother was suffering from dementia.
