Spring cleaning for the MBTA

If you take the T, you know it’s dirty.  Some stations are downright disgusting.  Well, things could be getting a little brighter and cleaner this spring on the MBTA.  According to Commonwealth Magazine, the MBTA will be launching a $25million spring cleaning at the busiest – and dirtiest stations.  Think power washing, fresh coats of paint, repairing of leaks and cracks, better lighting and more.  This new push will be called “station brightening” and take place during non-peak rush hours beginning April 1st.  No fooling.  Stations include Ashmont, Back Bay, Downtown Crossing, Dudley, and JFK/UMass.  More stations will be added eventually.

A $65 million initiative to overhaul a number of stations will also be launched this summer.
