5 Things You Should Know This Week – September 1st

Vote Early

In the City of Boston, you can vote early, before the September 9th preliminary election! Early voting takes place in the City of Boston on Saturday, August 30, Sunday, August 31, and Tuesday, September 2, through Friday, September 5, 2025.  You can learn more here!

Got issues? Use the 311 App

The 311 Constituent Service Center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and 365 days a year. Just download the app or dial 3-1-1 to report non-emergency city issues like missed trash pickup or if you want to get rid of that old giant TV console in your basement.  You can even report that Vermont plate that’s been parking on your block during resident-only hours taking up valuable parking real estate.  Not on your watch! For more information visit here!

Hunt + Gather

The Savin Hill Neighborhood will be hosting a yard sale on Saturday, September 6th from 9am-2pm with a rain date of Saturday, September 13th. You know the old saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Plan to hunt and gather your way through the neighborhood and expect anything from vintage tableware, furniture, books, sporting equipment, artwork and more. You never know what you’ll find but it might exactly what you are looking for!  Bring cash – most sellers are cash only!

Scobie’s has new cafe hours

Scobie’s, an Irish pub in Adams Village serving breakfast, lunch and dinner has new cafe hours starting September 1st! The cafe will be open 7am-2pm for breakfast and takeout 7 days a week.

Celebrate Honeybee Month in the Neighborhood

Presented in partnership with Classroom Hives, Inc, join the team at Emerald Necklace Conservancy in Franklin Park for the second annual National Honeybee Month Celebration on Saturday, September 6! See live bees in an enclosed observation hive, tickle your taste buds with a honey taste test, and explore pollination information with the whole family. The celebration is held between 1-4pm at Franklin Park Playstead, Circuit Drive, Boston. All ages welcome, intended for families with children ages 4-10. RSVP is recommended online here.

Have a wonderful week!
