At about 3:40pm, on Friday, July 12, 2019, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) and members of the Youth Violence Strike Force located both suspects in two different locations in Mattapan. Once found, officers arrested Ian King, 28, of Dorchester and Nathas Jacquecine, 31, of Boston and charged them both with Assault with Intent to Murder, Assault and Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Gun), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling. Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Monday, July 15, 2019.

Said Boston Police Commissioner William Gross: “Senseless gun violence and those who engage in it have no place in our parks, playgrounds or neighborhoods. An innocent 8-year-old girl most certainly has the right to celebrate the 4th of July and play with friends without the fear of hurt, harm or injury. I want to acknowledge the help from community members who aided this investigation. I especially want to thank my officers and detectives from District B-2 who worked tirelessly to find and arrest those responsible for this despicable act.”

The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows:

At about 11:00pm, on July 4, 2019, officers from District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to a call for persons shot in the area of 10 Folsom Street in Dorchester. On arrival, officers located two victims, an 8-year-old female and a 35-year-old male, both suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to area hospitals where they received treatment for their injuries.
