Icy conditions make putting out this fire more difficult

BFD responded to a call for a fire around 6:30pm on Bowdoin Street. Firefighters arrived to discover heavy black smoke from the laundromat located at 9 Bowdoin St.  A second alarm was ordered.

Fire was spreading to the roof and frigid temps caused the freezing of water equipment and apparatus. Fire was eventually knocked down and stopped from spreading to other businesses in the neighborood.

Due to heavy fire damage and collapse hazard in exterior wall, firefighters began to work in a defensive mode from outside to hit the hot spot.

Two firefighters were transported by ⁦Boston EMS to area hospitals with minor injuries. BFD-FIU was on scene to determine the cause of the fire.

Thanks BFD for keeping our neighborhood safe!
