At about 12:30 AM, on Sunday, July 31, 2022, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite firearm arrest of Corey Robinson, 19, of Dorchester in the area of Dakota Street and Greenbrier Street in Dorchester. Officers were on patrol in the area, responding to a call for a large crowd fighting in the street.

Upon arrival, officers observed an individual, later identified as Robinson, wearing a ski mask, running barefoot down Dakota Street towards Greenbrier Street. Officers apprehended Robinson and after further investigation, recovered a loaded Taurus G3 9×19 firearm with one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine. The firearm had been reported stolen out of North Charleston, South Carolina.

During the arrest the crowd became loud, hostile and attempted to surround officers. Officers were able to calm the crowd and safely place Robinson under arrest. He will be charged with; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm and Receiving Stolen Property. Corey Robinson is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
