From BPD News:
At about 1:27 AM on Wednesday May 23, 2018, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) placed a juvenile female in custody on firearm related charges after performing a traffic stop in the area of 4 Sargent Street in Dorchester. The officers had stopped a car for an equipment violation and were speaking with the operator when their attention was drawn to the front seat passenger, later identified as a 16-year-old female from Dorchester. When the officers approached to speak with the passenger, they observed a firearm sticking out of her purse. The officers removed both parties and secured the firearm which was determined to be a loaded 9mm Hi Point model C9 handgun which had previously been reported stolen. The suspect was then placed in custody without incident. The operator was issued a citation for the equipment violation and released from the scene.
The suspect will appear in Roxbury Juvenile Court on charges of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Ammunition and Receiving Stolen Property.
Said Commissioner Evans, “I find it deeply troubling to see a young girl out so late, on a school night no less, carrying a loaded gun, either for herself or holding on to it in order to take the blame for someone else.”
