From BPD News:
At about 2:30 PM, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force, made an on-site firearm arrest of a 15-year-old male.
Officers were conducting a firearm investigation in the area of Devon Street and Laredo Street. Officers had information that a juvenile suspect was in possession of a firearm. Officers observed the suspect’s hand in his pocket, and a rectangular bulge near his waistline. Due to this information, officers immediately exited their cruiser to speak with the suspect.
Officers were able to gain control of the suspect’s hands and conducted a pat frisk. Officers immediately felt the presence of a firearm, and knew that the suspect could not have a license to carry a firearm due to his age. Officers were able to safely recover a firearm from the suspect’s waistband. The firearm was determined to be a Smith and Wesson MP Shield with one round in the chamber and six rounds in the magazine.
As officers were attempting to place the suspect under arrest, a large crowd formed around them and began shouting obscenities at officers. The crowd began to interfere with the police investigation, and officers on scene requested for assistance. Two additional suspects were taken into custody for disturbing the peace and resisting arrest.
The 15-year-old male was placed under arrest and charged with; Delinquent to Wit; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Delinquent to Wit; Unlawful Possession of Ammunition. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
