One Less Gun: At about 6:45 PM on Friday, September 27, 2019, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Humboldt Avenue and Waumbeck Street in Dorchester.

While on patrol in the area of the aforementioned location, officers observed a large group inside of the Trotter School Playground. Officers noticed the group appeared to be smoking and were present in the park after dusk. Officers approached the group and while speaking with three males, observed one of them to suddenly start breathing excessively, leaning forward as if to conceal an item inside of the front pocket of his sweatshirt.

Fearing the male was in possession of a weapon, officers asked the male to stand up in an effort to possibly identify the item he was trying to conceal. At this time, the male attempted to flee from officers, but was immediately apprehended. Officers located a SCCY CPX-1 firearm, loaded with four rounds of live ammunition, from the suspect’s waistband. The suspect, who did not possess a valid license to carry, was taken into custody.

Officers arrested a 14-year-old juvenile male of Dorchester. The juvenile is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on charges of Delinquent to wit: Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.
