Dorchester Native Joshua Báez Makes History in Major League Debut with 3 Home Runs
How about this for a Major League debut!
Dorchester native Joshua Báez made history on Saturday in his first MLB game with the St. Louis Cardinals, hitting three home runs in his first three at-bats against the Chicago Cubs. According to CBS Boston, he became the first player in modern MLB history to hit three home runs in his debut.
The 23-year-old was born in Boston, spent part of his childhood in the Dominican Republic, and returned to Dorchester when he was 11. He later attended Dexter Southfield in Brookline.
Even better, about 30 members of Báez’s family were at Wrigley Field to see him make history! The Cardinals went on to beat the Cubs 8-4.
