USS Constitution is Underway on Saturday to Celebrate the Commissioning of the Submarine USS Massachusetts

Something pretty cool is happening on the water this weekend, Dorchester.
On Saturday morning, March 28, the iconic USS Constitution will set sail from the Charlestown Navy Yard at 8:30AM—marking its first cruise of 2026. The historic ship will be joined by 1812 Marines on board as it makes its way through Boston Harbor to honor the commissioning of the USS Massachusetts, a new Virginia-class fast attack submarine.
As it passes by South Boston, keep your eyes (and ears) ready, a 21-gun salute will take place near Fort Independence, making for a pretty unforgettable moment.
Best spot to catch all the action? Sullivan’s at Castle Island, of course. Grab a coffee, bundle up, and watch a little piece of history sail right by.

USS CONSTITUTION USUALLY FIRES CANNONS BETWEEN 10:30 and 11:30, Right.???
All we know for sure is that the USS Constitution is underway from Charlestown at 8:30. We are guessing the 21 gun salute will be closer to 9:30? But nothing confirmed.
