Boston Firefighter Injured After Falling From 3rd Floor During 3-Alarm Dorchester Fire

A Boston firefighter was injured Saturday night after falling from a third-floor rear porch while battling a 3-alarm fire in Dorchester.

According to the Boston Fire Department, crews responded to 18 Treadway Road just after 8 p.m. on Saturday for reports of a structure fire. When firefighters arrived, heavy flames were showing from the third floor and through the roof of the building.

A second, and later a third, alarm was struck as firefighters worked to get the fire under control. Officials said crews quickly knocked down the fire and prevented it from spreading further.

During firefighting operations, a Mayday was called after a firefighter fell from the rear porch on the third floor. Boston EMS treated the firefighter at the scene before transporting them to a local hospital. Their injuries are unknown at this time.

The Mayday was later cleared. BFD is investigating the cause of the fire.
