The Boston Globe is reporting that a Blessed Mother statue at St. Gregory’s church has been vandalized several times in the past few weeks.

Most recent incident

On Wednesday night around 7:20pm, BPD responded to reports of vandalism and found a red substance on the statue.

Other incidents

This is the third location of recent vandalism to local memorials and statues.  The WWII memorial in South Boston was vandalized in March followed by several statues at the Mount Hope Cemetery. 

Last year, the Vietnam War Memorial in Dorchester also suffered from vandalism.

The Boston Police Department is actively reviewing the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident at St. Gregory. Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact Boston Police District C-11 (Dorchester) Detectives at (617) 343-4335.
