Hmmmm…in a very bizarre incident today at City Hall, City Councilor At-Large Elect (and Dorchester resident) Althea Garrison – slated to be sworn in to replace the newly elected to US congress Ayanna Pressley – was apparently locked out of her new office. As a matter of fact, according to Universal Hub, it seemed like a complete surprise to City Hall that Garrison was showing up.

Garrison, along with her chief of staff and family and friends, showed up around 12:30 on Tuesday for her swearing in – as they were told to by “somebody from the City Hall.”

The story goes that the swearing in was postponed until next week but no one let Garrison and her people know. To add insult to injury, Garrison’s new office still has Pressley’s name on it.

On a brighter note, City Councilor Ed Flynn witnessed the whole thing and offered a friendly welcome and asked how he could help.

Garrison ran for one of the city council’s four at-large seats in 2017 and landed in fifth place – which means if a seated city councilor leaves, the candidate who comes in fifth takes over that spot. Since Pressley is now in congress, Garrison takes her spot.
