Support the arts! Commemorating 100 years of Dorchester’s original movie palace, The Strand (1918 – 2018) it’s the Dorchester Short Film Festival on October 25th from 7:30pm-9:30pm. Enjoy a rare opportunity to experience a fast-paced line-up of comedy, drama, action, and animation. Films are presented in two acts with an intermission, showcasing an eclectic combination of Oscar nominees, Sundance winners, Aspen Shorts winners, US Film Festival “Best of Show” winners/runner ups, and International honorees. Suitable for ages 16 and up. Yellow Door will be serving up cocktails too! Tickets are $20 and can be purchased here!

Family friendly Halloween Fun! Celebrate at the Children’s Magical Halloween Castle at Fort Independence. Castle Island’s Fort Independence will transform into a spooky, but kid-friendly, magical haunted castle. Stop by on Saturday, October 27th and Sunday, October 28th from 12pm-4pm for drinks, snacks, story tellers, and tour the magic castle in your best costume.

Cocktails and Duck boats! Dotini returns to Dot Ave on Thursday, October 25th at 7pm!  Ducktini – will celebrate the shops, stores and organizations in and around Fields Corner with the help from the Boston Duck Tours. Enjoy specialty martinis, take selfies with an on-site Duck Boat and come dressed in your best nautical casual themed outfits! Be informed. Get involved. A special community workshop will take place on Saturday, October 27th at Dorchester Park at 3:15pm. This workshop discussion will include upcoming playground upgrades. The Boston Parks and Recreation Department is interested in hearing about desired improvements to better serve neighborhood families.
