St. Brendan/St. Ann Meeting! Declining attendance at Mass, decrease in weekly offertories, combined with much needed maintenance to aging building (which is estimated to be over $2 million for both churches) and a debt of $850,000, the parishes are struggling to stay afloat. There will be a community meeting at St. Ann Church on Monday, September 24th at 7pm to discuss finances and a plan of action to keep the churches open. Whiskey + Wine + How-do-you-dos = Neighborhood Night! Caught in Dot, Caught in Southie and The Bowery Bar are joining forces to bring you a fun-filled night celebrating the neighborhood on Wednesday, September 26th from 6pm-9pm. Come to a gathering of friends + neighbors on the patio of The Bower Bar in Lower Mills! There will be wine + whiskey tastings, food, fun, local pop-ups and a “We Love Goats” fundraising effort to help raise funds for the Dorchester Goats! Plus other surprises and delights! You never know who you’ll meet at Neighborhood Night! Stop by and say hello!  This event is free and open to the public!

Listen to the music! The Boston Pops will perform a special free concert in Franklin Park on Sunday, September 30 at 3 p.m. After the concert enjoy a community arts festival with family-friendly activities presented by many of local institutions and arts organizations. There will be an interactive mural, instrument playground, crafts, photo booth, live animal demonstrations, and more! The outdoor concert marks the second year in a row for this free outdoor concert at The Playstead at Franklin Park, 25 Pierpont Road, Dorchester The festival also includes local food vendors.

Get crafty! Learn how to use that sewing machine collecting dust in your basement or knit that sweater you’ve been dreaming about. The Stitch House is not only a fully stocked yarn shop, but it also offers classes for all the fiber arts including crochet, sewing, and quilting. Register! ADSL Fall Basketball starts on October 6th at the DOT House Gym – 1353 Dorchester Ave. on Saturdays 10am-12pm! Cost is $60 for the season. Register your kids ages 7-10 here!
