Get your hot pants and sequins ready!

To the younger generation – roller disco was a thing and the Queen of Disco was none other than Dorchester’s own Donna Summer.  To pay tribute to her, the City of Boston is honoring her with the third annual  “A Celebration of Summer: The Donna Summer Memorial Roller Disco Party. ”

Boston-born disco legend Donna Summer was a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a five-time Grammy winner, and sold over 140 million records worldwide. She was born in Dorchester and was raised in Mission Hill before rising to stardom in the 1970s. She passed away at the age of 62 years old on May 17, 2012.

This good time celebration takes place on Friday, June 21st from 6pm-10pm at City Hall Plaza. Music is provided by DJ Vince, with a performance by O’Mega Red.

You can dust off of your old roller skates or rent a pair on site.  If you have a tube top or a sweet satin jacket, wear it!

This event is free and open to the public.

We highly recommend listening to Donna Summer on Spotify to get you ready.  Also, practice your “shoot the duck” move (google it if you don’t know what we’re talking about).

Here are some other things happening in the neighborhood this week!
