The MBTA will test an extension of the late night and early morning bus service in some low-income neighborhoods including Dorchester and Mattapan.  Also included are communities north of Boston including Lynn, Malden and Everett.

The $2 million pilot plan was approved on Monday at the MBTA’s Fiscal and Management Control Board meeting.  Six new drivers will be added to implement this new pilot with an effort to help out those who commute to low-wage paying jobs.  According to WBUR, this new program will assist nearly 60,000 late night workers and offer a cost effective mode of transportation rather than calling an Uber or driving to work.

This new service will go into effect in September and fares will remain the same!
