Well, there’s one less gun on the streets thanks to the BPD Neighborhood Drug Control Unit. On Sunday at 3pm, BPD heard a gun shot, then saw two males fleeing the are. After a chase, officers came across a victim in his late teens with a laceration on his forehead. According to the victim, two males tried to rob him at gunpoint. Then hit him in the head with the butt end of the gun. Officers then broadcasted descriptions of the suspects. Suspects were spotted, stopped, patted down and gun was recovered. Phew!

At about 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 17, 2017, officers assigned to the District C-11 (Dorchester) Neighborhood Drug Control Unit were on patrol in the area of Ditson and Leroy Streets when they heard what sounded like a gun shot. Upon hearing the shot, officers observed two males (one wearing a red hoody and another wearing a black hoody) fleeing the area. Officers gave chase, and while searching the area for the suspects, came upon a male victim in his late teens suffering from a laceration to his forehead. According to the victim, two males approached and tried to rob him. During the robbery, one of the suspects who was wearing a red hoody, produced a firearm, demanded the victim’s cell phone, and discharged a round in his direction that did not strike the victim. The victim further stated that the suspect struck him in the forehead with what he believed was the butt of the firearm. Officers promptly broadcast a description of both suspects over the police radio. In short time, responding officers observed an individual who matched the description of the suspect in red. Fearing the presence of a firearm, officers quickly pat frisked the suspect, however, no weapon was found.
The male, 18-year-old Tyrese Johnson-Nurse of Dorchester, in addition to having an outstanding arrest warrant for Shoplifting, was positively identified as the suspect who assaulted the victim in the robbery. Officers arrested Johnson-Nurse and charged him with Attempted Armed Robbery and Assault & Battery by Means of a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm). Further investigation and an extensive search of the suspects’ flight path allowed officers to recover a loaded Hi-Point 380 semi-automatic pistol. Johnson-Nurse was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Improper Storage of a Firearm.
