A Quincy man is in custody in connection with an early morning robbery of a Dorchester convenience store on Friday where a store clerk was beaten. BPD arrested and charged 21 year-old Joshua Westbrook with Assault to Rob Unarmed (Variety Store). He will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

At about 12:03 AM, Officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) responded to 44 Norfolk Street (Convenience Store) for a robbery in progress. Upon arrival, officers were able to review store surveillance footage of the two suspects. One of the suspects could be seen jumping over the counter and begin to physically assault the store clerk, while the other suspect took money out the cash register.

As officers were leaving the scene, they observed the two individuals from the store video surveillance walking on Norfolk Street at New England Avenue. As officers approached, one of the suspects fled in an unknown direction and the other suspect, later identified as Joshua Westbrook, 21 of Quincy, was placed under arrest and charged with Assault to Rob Unarmed (Variety Store).  He will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
