Civilians were able to thwart the attempts of four suspects to break into residences in the Brighton and Dorchester neighborhoods in two separate incidents on Tuesday. The facts of the incidents are as follows:

INCIDENT #1: At about 12:25 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress in the area of Marlowe Street. Upon arrival, officers were informed by the victim that he was inside his apartment when he heard noises on the back porch of the three-family home. The victim went to the back door to investigate and heard someone pushing on the screen door. Believing an intruder was attempting to break into his house, the victim opened the back door. The victim was immediately confronted by an unknown male and female. When he asked them what they were doing, they gave evasive answers about his upstairs neighbors that the victim knew to be untrue. The victim then told the suspects to get off his porch and immediately contacted the police. Both suspects fled on foot on Park Street toward Washington Street. Officers on patrol in the area quickly stopped two individuals fitting the suspects’ descriptions, and both were identified as the suspects who attempted to break into the victim’s residence. Officers arrested 33-year-old Marvenito Gomes Andrade of Dorchester and 29-year-old Allison Sullivan of Haverhill and charged them with Attempted Breaking and Entering to a Residence, Daytime.

INCIDENT #2: At about 8:38 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, officers from District D-14 (Brighton) responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress in the area of 549 Cambridge Street. While en route to the location, officers learned that the victim was following the two suspects whom he had located inside his basement in possession of his property, and a description was broadcast. Upon meeting up with the victim, officers were directed to one of the suspects in the vicinity of 8 Webley Street. At that moment, the officers observed the second suspect exit 6 Webley Street carrying a red Proctor and Gamble compressor and a gray Proctor and Gamble nail gun. Officers commanded the two suspects to stop. During the stop officers recovered a screwdriver and a clear plastic bag of 12 Gabapentin pills. Officers were able to make contact with the occupant of 6 Webley Street, and he identified the Proctor and Gamble tools as his property. Officers arrested both suspects, 38-year-old Milton Martinez and 33-year-old Jacob Cline, both of Dorchester, and charged them with Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime. Cline was additionally charged with Possession of Class E Drugs.
