The Boston police department was very busy on Tuesday. Officers across the city recovered five illegally possessed firearms during four separate incidents. All of these recoveries happened from motor vehicle stops initiated by the officers! The incidents happened in Dorchester, Roxbury and Mattapan.

One gun was actually found in a suspect’s pants. The astute officer on the scene noticed that suspect’s pants zipper was down. After a frisk, it was revealed that he was concealing a loaded Glock Model 22 (Is that a gun in your pocket? Or are you happy to see me.) Needles to say he was promptly arrested. Here’s the report below:

At about 7:40 PM on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force conducted a stop of a vehicle for several violations of the auto laws, including failure to signal and excessive window tint, in the area of Eustis Street and Bethune Way in District B-2 (Roxbury). Officers made contact with the operator, whom they immediately recognized as 27-year-old Tyron Hollins of Dorchester, a person well-known to officers for his role in several firearm-related incidents. After checking the status of Hollins’ license and registration, the officers returned to his vehicle and noticed that the zipper on his pants was down, when it had been zipped up moments before. Suspicious that Hollins may have concealed something in his pants, officers ordered him from the vehicle and conducted a pat frisk. The frisk revealed that Hollins was in fact concealing a loaded Glock Model 22 .40 caliber in the crotch of his pants. Further investigation showed that the firearm had been reported stolen in 2015 out of Washington County, VT. Hollins was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Receiving Stolen Property, and Armed Career Criminal Level I. He was issued a citation for the traffic infractions.

The incident that happened Dorchester took place on Savin Hill Ave at 11am on Tuesday. Here’s the report below:
INCIDENT #1: At about 11:10 AM on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force conducted a stop of a vehicle for violations of the auto laws in the area of Savin Hill Avenue and Pleasant Street in District C-11 (Dorchester). Officers initially pulled the vehicle over for not having a proper inspection sticker, but after further investigation, learned that the operator was driving with a suspended driver’s license and had an active warrant out of Lynn District Court for the same offense. Officers placed the operator, identified as 25-year-old Edward Long of Dorchester, under arrest and charged him with Operating after Driver’s License Suspended/Revoked. While performing an inventory search of Long’s vehicle prior to towing, officers recovered a loaded SCCY Model CPX-1 9mm handgun with obliterated serial number from a bag inside the car. Long was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Possession of a Firearm with Obliterated Serial Number, and Unlawfully Carrying a Loaded Firearm.
