Welcome to the world!  Early Tuesday morning, BPD officers were flagged down in the area of Adams and King Street by a man explaining his wife was in labor.  When the officers crossed over to the car, the woman was actively giving birth!  Shortly after, a baby boy was born! Officers helped with the delivery and helped comfort the new family until EMS arrived.  A few hours later, the officers made a trip to the hospital to visit!

See report below:

At about 4:30 AM on Tuesday March 20, 2018, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) were conducting an investigation in the area of Adams Street and King Street when they were flagged down by male who stated that his wife was going into labor in a nearby parked car. The officers immediately ran across the street to the vehicle where they observed the female actively giving birth. The officers were able to assist in the safe delivery of the baby and provided additional care and comfort to the newborn boy and his parents until Boston EMS arrived. All parties were transported to an area hospital for further treatment.

A few hours later after everyone was settled, the officers made a visit to the hospital to formally meet the mother and her new baby boy. As a birthday present, they brought a BPD teddy bear for baby and BPD coffee mugs for mom and dad…looks like they’re going to need them to keep up with their new edition to their growing family.

To this beautiful family from all of us at the BPD, we say, “Congratulations!”
